Microsoft Xbox 360 grabs top spot in monthly US sales chart for the first time in two years

Microsoft should have something to be happy about this morning, as it was announced that the Xbox 360 outsold the competition in the month of February.

That puts Microsoft’s gaming console at the top of the monthly US sales chart for the first time…two years.

According to the analyst group NPD, 422,000 Xbox 360 units were sold last month, compared to the Nintendo Wii who took the silver with 397,900 units, and PlayStation 3 with the bronze at 360,100 units.

Overall for the gaming business, however, things aren’t too good as the industry’s total revenue fell 15% in February. Ouch.

Well, it’s a shorter month anyway. And maybe they’ll get a boost from themuch-awaited Final Fantasy XIII release this past week.
