Microsoft launches Games for Windows Marketplace

As promised last month, Microsoft Games for Windows Marketplacelaunched today.

Anyone with a Windows Live ID can get started purchasing PC games online with “ultra-fast” downloads promised. Payments can be made via credit card or Microsoft Points.

Featured titles (i.e. Fable, Call of Duty and Tomb Raider: Legend) are currently running anywhere from $9.99 to $49.99. There is also a special daily deal, such as today’s special for Grand Theft Auto IV, which is 40% off the original price.

Microsoft has already inked deals on partnerships with Activision, Capcom, 2K Games and Square Enix, so we can expect the Games catalog to seriously expand.
