Less than 24 hours after receiving heated criticism from analysts, ERP vendor, Infor, canceled a controversial customer referral program. Although the program was a mistake, Infor deserves credit for quickly doing the right thing.
The original referral program offered to pay a 15 percent referral fee to consultants and other influencers while promising them anonymity. The anonymity created obvious conflicts of interest, which observers found strongly objectionable.
Here’s a statement from Infor’s Sr. Director Corporate Communictions, Terry Stickler:
Effective today, December 24, the referral program as defined in the e-mail that you received from Infor has been terminated and all referral program initiatives are under review by the new Infor management team. Updates and a revised referral program will be provided in early January.
Advice to enterprise buyers: Infor quickly did the right thing to restore confidence, which demonstrates responsiveness, so I am impressed.
